5 Things to Look Out for in a Local MSP

Let me just put this out there.

Whether you are an overseas company who decided to set up a branch office in Singapore but still utilize your IT support team back in your HQ; or a Singapore company with an IT department situated overseas; or simply an overseas IT company supporting various companies in Singapore, you will be faced with these problems:

What will happen when your Singapore company needs urgent IT support but the time that they need it is the time that you are fast asleep?
Or what if some IT issues cannot be solved remotely and require an engineer to go down to site?

Of course, the obvious answer is to partner with a local Managed Service Provider (MSP) who can do the job for you.

But you can’t just randomly pick a local MSP out of the haystack with your eyes closed. You need to research thoroughly and choose the “right” one for YOUR company.

But what should you look out for?

1. What IT Services and Solutions do they provide?

Of course, it is without question that the first and most important thing you should look out for in a local MSP is their list of IT services and solutions. If you require Telephony services or Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR) solutions, but the local MSP does not provide those, then obviously, that MSP should not even be in your shortlist anymore!

2. Do they have experience working with Overseas Clients?

The next thing to find out is if the local MSP has worked with overseas clients before, or is willing to work with overseas clients. This is because, some local MSP may prefer not to work with overseas clients as they find it challenging or troublesome.

Asking for a portfolio of their overseas clients or asking about their past or current experience in working with overseas clients is also telling if that particular local MSP is trustworthy and reliable or not! Having past experiences working with an overseas client would assure you that they know what they are doing and how to handle such situations and clienteles.
